GENERAL RULES
PLAYER CONDUCT Our expectations for each player are rather simple, and if you act amicably, treat each other with respect and kindness, and genuinely try to resolve any disagreements that do arise without inciting further conflict, then you should be okay. If you find yourself struggling with such things, or having difficulties with other participants, then it is strongly encouraged that you step away for a time to cool off. Level heads make better decisions every time.
The following list contains some important rules that you will be expected to follow and shall be enforced as necessary:
- Hate speech that includes, but is not limited to, sexist, racist, or other discriminatory comments are prohibited.
- No bullying, abuse, toxicity, negativity, or targeted harassment towards other members. This includes swearing at / insulting others over things pertaining to the server or otherwise.
- No spamming unrelated content, and no advertising outside of authorized areas. Guidelines on advertising will be provided.
- No sending unsolicited DMs to other players containing inflammatory or crude content. You can be held accountable for for such things.
- No impersonating staff or misrepresenting another member.
- Staff duties shall be left to staff members, and attempting to undermine staff or undertake their duties shall not be tolerated.
- All members must maintain an account on Discord and on the forum to facilitate communication and community.
If you are ever uncertain about anything, it is best to cease whatever you are doing and verify that it is allowed and does not violate one or more of the rules.
Enforcement of Policy The general idea behind the regulation of conduct and the enforcement of the rules is to encourage improvement rather than punish. Some transgressions will simply be too great, and some people will never seek to change their ways, and in these instances, individuals may be removed from the server for a duration of time, or permanently.
Others who are more open to working with staff to improve behavior will be expected to work towards that improvement. So long as they do, there is a good chance that punishments for breaking rules will be lessened.
When a rule is broken, or on the verge of being broken, staff will notify all involved. If conduct continues, staff will be obligated to take action. The most likely action will be a direct warning and order to cease activities. Depending upon the current conduct, and the conduct following the warning and request to stop, staff may revoke access for a short period of time, such as muting someone on Discord.
Attempts to subvert the judgement of staff and any enforcement methods utilized will result in stricter punishment, which could include a temporary ban from the server, such as two or three days, or up to two weeks if behavior warrants it.
Breaking certain rules, particularly those listed in the high priority rules, may lead to an instant, permanent ban.
Staff Code of Ethics All staff are expected to abide by the basic rules of the server, but are subjected to some that are unique to them, as well. As administrator and site owner, and thus permanently head of staff, some rules may not apply equally or at all.
- All staff members are required to maintain a specific level of activity in their duties and as a member of the community.
- No staff member, aside from the administrator, may approve their own content. The administrator may only approve their own content when staff numbers are insufficient to follow normal protocols.
- Staff members are not eligible for faction leadership positions, such as the Head of House Mora or the leader of the Ork WAAAGH!!.
Each member of staff is chosen from among volunteers as needed, and once chosen, will serve a specific period of time depending upon their role. At the end of each period, they will be reviewed by the administrator and so long as they are fulfilling their duties, conducting themselves appropriately, and wish to continue with their duties, shall be allowed to do so.
Failure to meet expectations or to maintain a necessary level of professionalism will result in revocation of their staff status and relegation to regular membership.
Being removed from service does not disqualify a member from becoming staff in the future. Life can get in the way, and a lot can change over time. However, they may face additional scrutiny if applying again in the future to ensure they are ready and suited for the task.
Staff members found abusing their roles and privileges in any way, such as pushing benefits for themselves or their friends at the exclusion of others shall be removed from their position, and may face further punishment as warranted.
Staff is ultimately responsible for the health of the server and its community, and if they become the problem, then like any heretic, they must be removed.
HIGH PRIORITY RULES PROBOARDS RULESAs Corinthean Dawn utilizes Proboards forum hosting, we will need to abide by their community guidelines.
Failure to abide by these rules could endanger the site and put the forum at risk of punitive measures by Proboards, including deletion of the server. Because of this, these rules are high priority. Breaking them will result in immediate removal from the forum.
You are under a basic obligation to familiarize yourself with the community guidelines, found here. Only certain rules are listed here, but the content outlined in the following bullet points is prohibited.
- Is obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy or pornographic, that may constitute child pornography, or that may solicit personal information from or exploit in a sexual or violent manner anyone under the age of 18;
While WH40K is generally not an overtly sexual, or gratuitously sexualized fandom, people are people. When in doubt, stick to PG13 content, or fade to black on a thread as necessary. When in doubt, err on the side of caution.
- Depicts excessive violence, contains comments or images that are offensive, abusive, threatening, harassing or menacing, or that incites, encourages or threatens physical harm against another;
Conversely, WH40K is well-known for extreme violence. While violence will be expected among the content of the threads on Corinthean Dawn, it is asked that you maintain a semblance of reasonable portrayal. Leave the extremely in-depth descriptions of violence and bloodshed for elsewhere, and once more, try to keep things in the realm of PG13.
- Glamorizes the use of illegal substances and drugs;
- Promotes gambling or casinos;
WH40K occasionally mentions drugs, and gambling may come up. This content is not banned, but should be approached with a reasonable mindset. These activities and substances are addictive and can result in great harm to individuals and those around them. These should be portrayed in a neutral manner, at minimum.
Keep these rules in mind, and if you are ever uncertain, do not hesitate to ask about how something should be handled.
GAMES WORKSHOP RULESUnderstandably, Games Workshop wishes to protect their intellectual property, so we need to be mindful of what that will mean for us. Whether or not someone feels that something should be allowed or is unenforceable by Games Workshop, we do not need any trouble with Games Workshop or Proboards. These following rules will be enforced rather strictly.
- Any official Games Workshop or WH40K content should be treated respectfully and portrayed faithfully. Alterations to canon content is to be avoided.
- Fanmade content, which is the majority of Corinthean Dawn, should be faithful to the WH40K lore and setting.
- Impugning Games Workshop, their content, their employees, or their business practices shall be avoided.
- Distribution of content, such as sourcebooks, rulebooks, etc. is prohibited. This includes alluding to methods or locations by which to find this content.
- Promotion of content that bypasses the property rights of Games Workshop, such as 3D printing models, pirating rulebooks, etc. is prohibited.
Corinthean Dawn does not hold users accountable for what they do beyond our purview, with the exception of conduct that harms Corinthean Dawn. For example, spreading inciting rumors specifically targeting the site or any of its members.
