Kikota Island (Velon)

    Kikota Island: A small island off the coast of Gargax's mainland. Roughly 50 square miles. Secluded, this tropical island holds no significant structures or flora. It is however the nesting home of the Migrating Drillbeak, which is becoming a rarer sight nowadays as their natural habitat is destroyed by Ork target practice, Imperial farms and Tyranid predation.


    Karametra felt the heat. the flying creature was breathing fire all over her previous nesting area. Her sisters were not faring well in the extreme heat, popping into splurches of ichor like gory popcorn kernels. The Warrior leading the current charge urged Karametra backwards away from the invader spewing flames. The flying creature continued to spin it's alien wings above it's head while spewing flames towards the warrior. The warrior urged Karametra back again. Karametra turned and fled back towards the nearby coastline. As Karametra entered the water, she could feel the warrior's synapse shatter.


    The cold water enveloped Karametra, and she took a great big breath of saltwater and swam deeper. The water runs through her body from mouth to the spiracles located near her tail. The salt stings her gas exchange organs while they get accustomed to the salt in the water. Karametra knew that would go away, so she pressed on into the depths of the ocean.

Kikota derives its remoteness from the aquatic megafauna that use the surrounding waters as their hunting grounds. This leaves most water based transport as prey, and even air transport isn't necessarily safe either.

Karametra pulled herself free of the ocean foam. Her harrowing experiences with the denizens of the deep were. . .already embedding themselves deep within her head as a reason to never again go in the water. As the water dripped of her faltering figure, Karametra felt her breathing switch off gills and back towards lungs.

When Karametra next exited hibernation, the sun had already set,but that was no detriment due to both hearing and smell. Hungry, ahe headed towards the smell of damp vegetation.
